Booking and payment
How can I make a reservation at Pigeons Nest?
Pick your dates in the search bar, choose a room and send the request, or message us on WhatsApp. We confirm by email within a few hours and hold the room while you decide.
Is an advance payment required to make a booking?
No card is taken at the request stage. For peak dates we may ask for a small advance to hold the room; we will say so in the confirmation email and never charge without asking.
Is it cheaper to book direct?
Booking on this site carries no agency commission, so we hold the best rate we offer and stay flexible on late check-out, extra beds and airport pickups.
What is your cancellation policy?
Rooms cancel free up to 48 hours before arrival, tours up to 24 hours before departure. Tell us as early as you can and we will move the dates instead where we can.
Your stay
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in runs from 1:00pm to 7:00pm and check-out from 5:00am to 11:00am. If you need an early check-in or a late check-out, tell us in advance and we will do our best around the other guests.
Are meals included in the room rate?
Breakfast is an optional add-on at $4 per person, cooked to order, local or western. Rice and curry dinners are cooked in our own kitchen; order the day before so we can shop for it.
Is Wi-Fi available at Pigeons Nest?
Yes, free Wi-Fi throughout the house and in every room. Hill-country weather can slow it occasionally, but it handles calls and streaming most of the time.
Which rooms have a mountain view?
The King Room, the Duplex Room and the Quadruple Room look over the valley. The Double Room with Garden View faces the flowering garden at the front instead.
Do you allow children or pets?
Children aged five and up are welcome. We cannot offer cribs or extra beds, and pets are not allowed.
Tours and transport
Does Pigeons Nest provide airport transportation?
Yes. Our private chauffeur service covers airport transfers and the drive up from Colombo. Send your flight details and we will quote the car and confirm the driver.
Does Pigeons Nest offer tour packages?
We run half-day and full-day trips around Nuwara Eliya, Ramboda Falls, Bomburu Ella, tea factories, Single Tree Hill, and island-wide itineraries up to nine days.
Can I request a specific tour itinerary?
That is how most of our tours work. Tell us what you want to see and how long you have, and we build the route, the stops and the driving days around it.
Do you provide a private chauffeur for the tours?
Every tour goes out with our own driver-guide in a private car, your party only, no shared coaches, and departure times that suit your stay.
What is nearby?
Mackwoods Tea Museum is 1.2km away, Nuwara Eliya post office 1.4km, Victoria Park 1.7km, Galway's Land National Park 2.7km, Hakgala Botanical Garden 9km and Horton Plains 19km. Nanu Oya train station is a 4.8km drive.
